Victory Rose

Can I tell you a secret?

I never dreamed of owning a business.

Since I was 10 I knew I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to write novels and I would even create my own little books with a cover. Somehow my books always ended up being about cats haha.

The older I got the more I realized just how unrealistic a book author career was, so I settled for a more practical writing career choice, journalism.

I wrote for my college newspaper and even became an editor but I realized my heart wasn’t in reporting facts. I wanted the freedom to be creative and write whatever I felt like writing.

Feeling discouraged again, I settled on a career path in the nonprofit world and that’s what I did for the last 5 years until I got laid off last month. But my love for creating and writing have never left.

So imagine my surprise when God placed Victory Rose on my heart 2 years ago. I had absolutely zero knowledge on how to start or run a business.

I’ve wrestled with God many times about how unqualified I am to do this. And I’ve also asked, what about my desire to write?

Well of course God being who God is, has truly orchestrated absolutely everything in His own perfect way; a way that I could’ve never imagined.

Before Victory Rose ever became a thought in my mind, I had started blogging and writing about being a single mom and how my faith had really helped me through the hardest times. Little did I know that my trials and everything God was teaching me would be the foundation of what Victory Rose is today.

Victory Rose is a reference to Jesus rising from the dead. What looked like a total loss on a Friday, was a victory on a Sunday. Jesus was victorious and because Jesus lives in us, we too are victorious. Jesus has taken so many things in my life that looked like a total loss and turned it into my victory for His glory. Over the last 4 years Jesus has taken my trials and has turn it a beautiful testimony that glorifies Him. It says in Genesis 50:20 "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."

All glory to God that He would use my testimony and my words to help encourage single moms in Africa to single moms that have found me on Instagram. I am so thankful for the messages from single moms that say my journey has helped them have hope. I am also thankful for the messages from women who are not single mom or even moms at all, but something about my journey has inspired them. Truthfully, I'm always in awe of God each and every time and I will always give Him the glory because He is the One doing the heavy lifting, I am just His vessel and for some reason I keep saying yes to Him using my life and I pray I never stop saying YES.

Wherever you are in your journey, if you feel like you're behind in life, or maybe your life has made a drastic left turn, take it from a girl who's been there, GOD IS WORKING IT ALL OUT. You may not understand today and you may not even see how God is working, but I promise you He is. I hope you know you are not a mistake, your life is not a mistake, and you are not defined by your mistakes. God will use everything for good.

Friend, I am so thankful for you. I am thankful you are here reading this. I am thankful God gave me the heart for Victory Rose. I am thankful I get to use my gift of creativity to design shirts that I pray bless you. I am thankful I get to share my life, my testimony, and what God is teaching me with you.

While I love to write on Instagram and will continue to do so, blogging is an opportunity to write and share more of my heart with you. So you can definitely look forward to more blog posts!

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for supporting me and my dreams. I pray God blesses you and I pray you continue to walk in victory!

love,

Jalina
